Hello Again ... Gucci ?

Image
Gucci shoes, in my experience, are extremely uncomfortable. The couple of pairs that I own, all have their weird little quirks. For example, the lace-up, its a beautiful shoe and perfectly my size, that I had bought from Bicester Village, a couple of years ago. Whenever I wear them, after the first hour, my toes hurt like someone is constantly stepping on them. Or the loafers, which when I wear them for a couple of hours, even with invisible socks on, my feet end up being scratched and blistered. Ever since I have been quite hesitant with buying shoes from this brand.  But recently the brand seems to have had a huge image overhaul. Alessandro Michele, has managed to turn the brand from being all about tailoring and structure, to this beautiful, flower power, relaxed, quirky, gender bending phenomenon, that has pushed the envelop for menswear and  opened many new paths for the menswear industry to explore. (although a part of me also things, the clothes  will make ...

Double Trouble

Image
Denim Double denim. A few years ago, some one asked me what I think about this trend, when the likes of David Gandy and David Beckham were wearing it. At the time, I found it ridiculous to be honest. I thought even with different, contrasting colours, it's still all denim and the pictures of Justin Timberlake in his denim suit, kept cropping up in my mind and the concept was lost on me. Tragic  But then a while ago, I saw the picture below. Milan Vukmirovic I know the picture is a few years old but it blew my mind. The gentleman looks so effortlessly elegant and cool in the outfit, I HAD to try to emulate it. Now, in no way do I look like the man nor am I fit like him. (I have the average Bangladeshi body with the damn belly). So I ended up with the outfit above, an old Levis shirt (that i had completely forgotten I had), with a pair of Uniqlo skinny fit jeans (my favorite) and a pair of green Paul Smith shoes. (If you look closely the green part of the shoes...

Monochrome Evening

Image
Monochrome What's with people's insistence on throwing a dinner party, for every mynute nonsense. A couple of weeks ago, we had attended a Bar-B-Q party to celebrate the anniversary (married, dating or otherwise, I hadn't asked) of one of my relatives. Now the thing is, I have never spoken to them before. Yes we've met at the odd wedding or dinners, with the hellos and how are yous' that follow, but never actually had a conversation with them or met up for anything. To be perfectly honest, i am not quite sure how we are related other than that, I am supposedly a far related grand father to their kids (I KNOW) but my parents are friendly with them. And as I am of age (28, I am practically running towards my dotage apparently) I am required to attend every envelope opening i am invited to. Anyway since there is the ridiculous humidity in Dhaka, wearing shoes to a casual out door event is not really advisable. So I went with an Asos neoprene white polo shirt ...

Sartorial Minimalist

Casual Hello everyone, I have finally given in and decided to start a blog, about my daily fashion choices and general ideas, regarding menswear. I hope you all enjoy my content, any feedback would be greatly appreciated! (I honestly don't have a clue what the hell I am doing right now!! ARRRGH) I had taken the picture above, a few months ago for a little cocktail party for a store opening, in Bangladesh. Now, in this country casual wear is basically formal wear, one can attend a wedding in a pair of jeans and a shirt and then basically change into a t-shirt and walk out the next day, without any problem. Which, personally, is abhorrent to me. I mean if you are attending a wedding or a big event, make the damn effort! All the ladies, certainly are, so it's only fair to be at least complimentary. And culturally here, dressing up for men isn't really 'a thing' mostly. Anyway back to the outfit, since this was in the middle of summer I did not really want ...
