Patina shoes ...anyone?
Hello gentlemen and ladies, if you are reading. Patina Shoes! One of most, beautiful things I have recently become obsessed with. First what is a patina?
The goal of a shoe patina is to change the appearance of a shoe by playing on the design, contrast and colours of its leather. This technique was formerly reserved for the major shoemaking companies, but has since become a common practice due to the development of new products as well as the commercialisation of untreated and un-tinted leather shoes.
Now, recently going through my closet, I realised all of my shoes are either very practical or just plain Hype beast nonsense. I didn't own any true, unique pieces that i keep harping on to people that I want to own. Because I had no idea what I was looking for.
So the other day, while reading up on all sorts of shoes and labels, I came upon patina shoes. And realised that many Italian and french shoe makers are slowly starting to open up patina services, although the market for these shoes are very niche (which is you ask me, makes them even more desirable).
These shoes are not only unique in design and colour, but they are also one of a kind, as they are hand painted and none of the shoes look the same, after they are finished. Even to upgrade an old, beat up lace-up, a patina could revitalise the whole shoe and turn it into a completely new product.

My current obsession!
They are by Altan Bottier and these shoes are so utterly beautiful, I haven't been able to take my eyes off them. Unfortunately they are not available for international delivery, but if all goes to plan with my holidays, these babies are going to be mine! Although, we will have to see how these shoes cope with the Bangladeshi heat wave.
The colour, the shape, the colour, the structure and, have I said the colour ? is absolutely stunning! Personally, in recent times I have seen most people are obsessed with shoes, as long as its a big brand name or God forbid, a loafer. Menswear, or at least, the general male population's idea of menswear, is the same ol' crap... Big designers and screaming labels. People don't try to find any niche brands or small boutiques anymore, which is frustrating. Thats where the real fashion happens!
Anyway sorry for my little rant (I also realise this post is all over the place, but please bear with me. Due to some unavoidable circumstances, I had to give up blogging, but now I am back and its going to take a little while to get the flow of things.)
Let me know what you think about patina shoes in the comment section below!
